Four 500-Year-Old Paintings Stolen from Sicily Museum

Four paintings by 15th-century artist Antonello da Messina were stolen from a museum in Sicily on August 15, 2026. Three were parts of a large altarpiece made in 1473; another once appeared at the British Museum. Italy's culture minister confirmed the theft. Police are investigating how thieves got past the museum's alarms.
