Four Antonello da Messina Renaissance Paintings Stolen from Sicily Museum

Four paintings by 15th-century master Antonello da Messina were stolen from the Regional Interdisciplinary Museum of Messina, Sicily, on August 15, 2026. The works include three panels from the 1473 San Gregorio Polyptych and a Madonna and Christ in Pietà panel once exhibited at the British Museum. Italy's culture minister confirmed the theft. Police are investigating how thieves bypassed the museum's alarms.
