Police accidentally share victims' email addresses in group message

London's police force apologised after a group email on 11 August 2026 accidentally exposed 143 Al Fayed victims' email addresses to about 150 people. The police blamed "human error" and reported themselves to the Information Commissioner — the official body that protects people's personal data. A June incident, where one victim's handwritten account was sent to another, had already raised concerns.
