Water bills to rise after regulator approves extra company spending

Ofwat, the body that oversees water companies in England and Wales, approved £3.4 billion in extra spending. This brings total approved investment to £107.4 billion. Thirteen firms wanted £4.3 billion for unexpected costs. Five companies may raise household water bills above earlier plans before 2030.
