Google's Quick Share lets you share files by tapping phones together

Starting August 12, 2026, Google Quick Share will let compatible Android phones swap files and contacts by physically tapping two phones together, using the same short-range wireless tech behind contactless payments. The old method required picking a recipient from an on-screen list. Pixel 6 and newer get it first; Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 follow soon.
