Google Quick Share adds NFC tap-to-share, starting on Pixel 6 and newer

Starting August 12, 2026, Google is rolling out a Quick Share update that lets supported Android devices exchange files and contacts via NFC when physically tapped together. The feature replaces Quick Share's prior flow, which required selecting a recipient from a list of nearby devices. Pixel 6 and newer get it first; Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 follow "soon."
