Top police officer's job under threat — he never told the boss what he was doing, records show

Police Commissioner Richard Chambers says Superintendent Rakesh Naidoo can't stay in his role. Police rules say someone of Naidoo's rank must tell the commissioner directly if they have political plans. Released documents show the two never wrote to each other. Naidoo's boss briefed Chambers by phone on 4 June. A police review is under way.
