No direct contact between Naidoo and Police Commissioner despite manual requiring it, OIA records show

Police Commissioner Richard Chambers says Superintendent Rakesh Naidoo's role is untenable, citing the police manual's requirement that an officer of his rank inform the commissioner directly of political intentions. OIA-released records confirm no correspondence existed between Naidoo and Chambers. Naidoo's manager, Assistant Commissioner Tim Anderson, briefed Chambers by phone on 4 June. A police review is under way.
