Hungary Elects a New President Once Removed by Orban

Hungary's lawmakers voted 140-6 to make Andras Baka, 73, their next president. Viktor Orban's party refused to take part. Baka had led Hungary's top court until Orban removed him in 2011 for criticizing changes to the justice system. He starts August 19, replacing an Orban pick removed by a law change in July. Lawmakers also set an eight-year limit on future prime ministers, closing the door on Orban's return.
