Discord Completes Universal Voice and Video Encryption After 18-Month Rollout

Discord finished deploying end-to-end encryption across all voice and video calls in March 2026, concluding an 18-month infrastructure project that began in September 2024. The proprietary DAVE protocol encrypts content at the sender's device and decrypts only at the recipient's endpoint, covering one-on-one calls, group conversations, and server voice channels. Users can verify encryption status via the Voice/Video Details panel during calls.
