Record June heat wipes €2 billion from EU and UK grain harvests

The hottest June on record in western Europe has cut EU and UK grain harvest forecasts by 9 million tonnes — more than the combined output of Austria, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The ECIU estimates lost production at €2 billion, covering grain only. Trade body Coceral predicts the bloc's smallest grain harvest since 2018, with France, Hungary, and Spain hit hardest.
