PEPFAR Treatment Capabilities Completely Eliminated by US Program Terminations, CGD Finds

Center for Global Development analyses found that US program terminations completely eliminated PEPFAR treatment capabilities. A CGD report published February 24, 2026 confirmed that millions lost access to PEPFAR-supported HIV drugs during the foreign assistance pause. An October 2025 CGD analysis estimated nearly one in four targeted patients may lack access to HIV treatment at the national level.
