Auckland Council votes 17–5 for housing plan that exceeds government height minimums
Auckland Council voted 17–5 to adopt a housing plan accommodating more than 1.4 million homes. The hybrid approach retains six-storey zoning near all rapid transit and town centres, and lifts heights to 10–15 storeys around most train stations within 10km of the city centre — beyond the Western line nodes specified in law. Further public consultation on Plan Change 120 remains before it is finalised.
