Imperial Immunologist Develops NK Cell Therapies to Overcome Cancer Treatment Resistance

Daniel Davis at Imperial College has translated two decades of immune synapse research into NK cell-based cancer therapies, developed through partnership with Bristol Myers Squibb. The work targets patient populations where checkpoint inhibitors and CAR-T therapies fail, by engineering immune cells to function within hostile tumor environments. Two 2024 papers detail how molecular positioning on NK cell surfaces enhances their ability to kill cancer cells while resisting immunosuppression.
