Grand Canyon Flash Flood Kills One, 15 Missing or Unaccounted For

A flash flood swept through the inner Grand Canyon's Bright Angel Creek corridor on August 29, 2026. A 46-year-old man's body was recovered near Crystal Rapids. Roughly 15 people remain missing or unaccounted for, and 62 were evacuated from Phantom Ranch and the lower North Kaibab Trail. The National Park Service asked anyone with information about hikers in the area to come forward.
