Roman Space Telescope Launches With 100× Hubble's Field of View, Targeting a Billion Galaxies

NASA launched the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope on August 30, 2026, aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center. Its Wide Field Instrument captures 100 times more sky than Hubble at equivalent resolution. NASA estimates Roman could measure light from a billion galaxies during its mission, surveying dark matter, dark energy, and exoplanets from Lagrange Point 2. First images are expected in early 2027.
