FBI Replaces Blanket Ban on Sex Work History in Hiring with Tiered Thresholds

The FBI replaced its categorical hiring ban on applicants who engaged with sex workers with tiered disqualifiers: any encounter within 10 years, three or more at any point, or any while holding a position of trust. The bureau cited otherwise suitable candidates, including service members in legal jurisdictions. A 2015 Holder memo's prohibition for serving employees appears intact. The FBI called claims that criminal solicitation is no longer disqualifying "false."
