543 Dead, 1,500 Missing After Glacier Collapse Triggers Nepal-Tibet Flash Floods

A glacier detachment in Nepal's Langtang National Park on 26 August 2026 unleashed flash floods along the Nepal-Tibet border, killing 543 and leaving over 1,500 missing — including hundreds of foreign trekkers, workers, and pilgrims. The IFRC estimates 93,000 are affected; 40-plus bridges and 40km of road are destroyed. IFRC's David Fisher warns the death toll will likely keep rising.
