First missing Australian confirmed safe in Nepal floods as 38 remain unaccounted for
Cara Severino, 25, contacted her family on August 28 from Gosainkunda — over two days after flash flooding along the China-Nepal border killed at least 469 and left more than 1,500 missing. Her phone battery had died and no reception existed in the disaster zone. She is the first of 39 missing Australians confirmed safe; 38 remain unaccounted for.
