Specialist rape investigators in every England and Wales force by end of 2027, 18 months ahead of schedule

The UK government will embed specialist rape and sexual offences investigators in every police force across England and Wales by the end of 2027, bringing the target forward 18 months from summer 2029. The Home Office originally announced the plans last year. Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the previous timetable was "too slow."
