Supreme Court Lets Trump Mail-In Voting Restrictions Proceed; Legal Fight Continues

On August 24, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 to let the Trump administration begin implementing its March executive order imposing new restrictions on mail-in voting. A separate court order pausing part of the plan remains in effect, leaving implementation partial and contested. California and 23 other states have filed a new lawsuit to block the order ahead of the November 3, 2026 general election.
