AI Mammogram Analysis Detects Heart Disease and Stroke Risk in Women, Study Finds

An Israeli study of 97,364 mammograms from 29,921 women, presented at the European Society of Cardiology's 2026 congress in Munich, found AI identified prior stroke 86% of the time and coronary heart disease and high blood pressure at 78–79% reliability — using existing mammography with no added cost or radiation. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women worldwide.
