9/11 Trial of Alleged Mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed Set for June 2028

Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Schrama ordered the trial of four accused 9/11 conspirators — including alleged mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed — to open June 5, 2028. Schrama rejected prosecutors' bid for an early 2027 start, citing unresolved pretrial evidentiary and compliance motions. The defendants have been held at Guantanamo Bay since 2006.
