Burnham hosts first summit with devolved leaders since becoming PM

Prime Minister Andy Burnham is hosting a summit in South Wales with the first ministers of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland — the first gathering of all devolved government heads since he succeeded Keir Starmer as prime minister on 20 July 2026. Downing Street said he wanted to discuss driving growth across the UK. Welsh Deputy First Minister Sioned Williams will press for steel funding and lower energy bills.
