Ring's TAKE Encryption Becomes Default Worldwide, Permanently Deleting Keys Within 24 Hours
Ring is rolling out TAKE (Throw Away the Key Encryption) as the default for all customers worldwide. Keys rotate every five minutes and are permanently deleted within 24 hours, with no backups. After that window, Ring cannot decrypt historical footage — a subpoena would yield only encrypted files. Keys are managed inside AWS Nitro Enclaves; devices push keys on demand, so servers cannot remotely exfiltrate them.
