
At Least 15 Newborns Killed in Islamabad Hospital Nursery Fire
A fire at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) nursery in Islamabad on 26 August 2026 killed at least 15 newborns, local media reported. Hospital officials told Geo News the blaze began after an air conditioner compressor exploded. Only one of 16 infants in the neonatal ward was rescued. Firefighters extinguished the fire and were conducting cooling operations at the site.
