Joint DRC–M23 Ceasefire Monitoring Mission Arrives in South Kivu
A ceasefire monitoring mission arrived in Minembwe, South Kivu on August 24, 2026 to verify compliance with the Qatari-mediated Doha truce signed in July 2025. The team includes Congolese government and M23 representatives plus neutral ICGLR observers, with MONUSCO logistical support. It will visit Uvira and Kalehe, where fighting persists. The parties also agreed on a Swiss-facilitated roadmap for peace talks.
