US military strikes on suspected drug boats have killed 223 since September 2025

US Southern Command announced an August 23, 2026 strike on a suspected drug vessel in the eastern Pacific, killing two. The campaign has now killed 223 people across 67 strikes since September 2025. SOUTHCOM has not provided evidence that struck vessels were carrying drugs. The Pentagon's inspector general is still reviewing whether the campaign followed proper targeting rules.
