Marsden Point dry dock seeks fast-track consent but $300m private funding gap remains

A fast-track consent application for a $400–500 million shipyard and dry dock at Marsden Point was lodged with the Environmental Protection Authority on 21 August. Regional Development Minister Shane Jones conceded no private investors are committed, with backers refusing to commit until all consents are secured. Roughly $300 million is still needed. The Government has set aside $100 million-plus from the Regional Infrastructure Fund.
