NZDF personnel learned of US-led Korea exercise cutback through media reports

Nineteen NZDF personnel in South Korea for Exercise Ulchi Freedom Shield learned of its six-day curtailment through media reports, not direct notification. Foreign Minister Winston Peters said, "it was a surprise, I can't deny that." NZDF says it still lacks enough information from US authorities to assess impacts on future activities.
