46 Dead, Mostly Children, After Boat Capsizes in Northwest Nigeria
A boat carrying more than 70 passengers, mostly children, capsized in remote Gorau, Sokoto state, Nigeria. Police confirmed 46 bodies recovered and 16 rescued; 15 remain missing. A witness told Reuters the children were travelling with farm labourers heading to a rice harvest. NEMA described Gorau as "a very remote place," complicating the ongoing search.
