Kosovo Recovers at Least 23 Remains from Wartime Mass Graves in the North

Kosovo authorities recovered remains of at least 23 people from three suspected mass graves near Zubin Potok, northern Kosovo, announced August 19, 2026. Acting PM Kurti said they likely belong to ethnic Albanians abducted in Mitrovica and executed in spring 1999. Three local men were arrested on war crimes charges. DNA testing could take months. Roughly 1,600 from the 1998–99 war remain missing.
