Greens pledge to restore original Ka Ora, Ka Ako school lunches, expand to 150,000 more children

The Green Party has pledged to restore the original Ka Ora, Ka Ako school lunch programme at $6.50 per meal and expand it to roughly 400 more schools, adding 150,000 children, if part of the next government. Co-leader Marama Davidson announced the policy on 19 August 2026. The party would fund it permanently through a wealth tax, costing $472 million in 2027/28.
