NDIS overhaul to cut 170,000 participants and save A$37.8 billion
The Albanese government's NDIS overhaul bill has passed the Senate after Labor agreed to 63 amendments. The legislation aims to reduce participants from over 770,000 to roughly 600,000 and is forecast to save A$37.8 billion over four years. Without intervention, the scheme was projected to exceed A$100 billion annually by the mid-2030s.
