Big changes to disability support scheme pass Parliament

The government has passed laws overhauling the NDIS, the scheme that funds support for Australians with disabilities. Labor accepted 63 changes to get it through. About 170,000 people are expected to leave the scheme, dropping numbers from 770,000 to 600,000, saving A$37.8 billion. Without changes, costs were heading toward A$100 billion a year. Fewer people getting help — that's the headline.
