Home Office issues behavioural guide for asylum seekers covering consent and gender equality

The Home Office published a nine-page booklet for asylum seekers on 19 August 2026, covering gender equality, sex and consent, and respect in public. It warns that women need no man's permission to work, study or travel, and that breaking UK law could lead to loss of asylum support or affect an asylum claim. The Conservatives and Reform UK criticised the guidance.
