NDIS reform bill clears Senate with $37.8 billion in projected budget savings

The Senate passed the NDIS Amendment Bill on 18 August 2026 after Labor struck a deal with the Coalition, accepting 63 amendments. The 2026–27 Budget projects the reforms will reduce scheme expenditure growth by $37.8 billion over four years. House of Representatives passage was expected on 19 August. The savings depend on how the NDIA implements the new rules.
