NDIS reform bill clears Senate; $37.8 billion in projected savings
The Senate passed the NDIS Amendment Bill on 18 August 2026 after Labor and the Coalition struck a deal accepting 63 amendments. The Budget projects the reforms will trim scheme spending growth by $37.8 billion over four years. House of Reps passage was expected on 19 August. Whether those savings materialise depends on how the NDIA implements the new rules.
