US Sanctions ICC President Akane, Escalating Campaign Against the Court
The US sanctioned ICC President Tomoko Akane and Senior Trial Lawyer Abdoulaye Seye on August 18, bringing total sanctioned ICC officials to at least 11. Secretary Rubio, acting on Trump's order, accused both of prosecuting officials from non-member states. The move escalates pressure from individual judges to the court's top leadership. Neither the US nor Israel is an ICC member.
