Aged-care report urges 40 reforms, minister flags significant cost

A ministerial advisory group chaired by former Labour health minister David Cunliffe has delivered 40 recommendations for systemic reform of New Zealand's aged-care system, warning current settings cannot meet future demand "safely, equitably or sustainably" without major change. Minister for Seniors Casey Costello welcomed the report but said there is no denying its "significant price tag." The government has not indicated which recommendations it will adopt.
