Ferrari's first electric car sells for $40 million at auction, a record for a new car

A 2026 Ferrari Luce 'Tailor Made' — Ferrari's first electric vehicle, designed by Sir Jony Ive — sold for $40 million at RM Sotheby's Monterey auction on August 16, 2026. The price shattered the $1.1 million pre-sale estimate and set the record for a new car sold at auction. All proceeds go to the Ferrari Foundation's educational programmes. The buyer was not named and takes delivery in 2027.
