SpaceX Closes $60B Cursor Acquisition, Completing Full-Stack AI Play

SpaceX closed its $60 billion all-stock acquisition of AI coding startup Cursor (Anysphere) on August 15, 2026. Combined with its earlier purchase of xAI, SpaceX now owns a foundation-model lab, GPU compute infrastructure it rents to customers including Anthropic and Google, and a coding agent embedded in developers' IDEs — a vertically integrated AI stack with no third-party cloud provider between training and inference.
