UK government bans disposable barbecue sales across Great Britain over wildfire risk
The Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade imposed a temporary ban on disposable barbecue sales across Great Britain on 14 August, covering in-store and online transactions. Ministers said the barbecues had caused "a number of serious wildfires" during drought and heatwave conditions. Northern Ireland is excluded; consumer trading standards there are devolved to Stormont.
