Farage re-elected in Clacton, but standards inquiry could force a second by-election

Nigel Farage won the Clacton by-election on 14 August 2026 with 63.3% of the vote after the major parties boycotted the contest. A parliamentary standards investigation into his failure to declare a £5m gift from Reform donor Christopher Harborne has resumed and could lead to a suspension, recall petition and a second by-election within months.
