Apple Proposes 5–15% Commission on External App Store Payments, Down from 12–27%

Apple asked Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to let it collect 5 to 15 percent on purchases via external payment links, replacing the 12 to 27 percent it charged after a 2021 injunction. The tiered proposal sets 5 percent for small businesses, 10 percent for partner programs and subscription renewals, and 15 percent for top-revenue developers. Apple was found in contempt last year for continuing to collect external-payment fees. The appeals court overturned the fee prohibition, sending the question back to the district court. The case is also before the Supreme Court under docket 25-1311.
