Microsoft Retires Copilot's Mico Avatar Less Than a Year After Launch

Microsoft is removing the Mico animated avatar from Copilot's voice mode "in waves," less than ten months after its October 2025 launch. The voice interaction pipeline stays; only the visual avatar layer is cut. Mico joins Clippy, Cortana, and Rover in Microsoft's graveyard of anthropomorphic helpers. Microsoft says it is relocating Mico to its Learn Live tutoring platform.
