Matic Cues Splits Interaction Pipeline: On-Device Gestures, Cloud Voice via Gemini API

Matic launched Matic Cues on August 13, 2024, adding voice and gesture control to its robot vacuum via software update for all existing units. Gesture recognition runs entirely on-device using five cameras. Voice uses a hybrid path: the "Hey Matic" wake word is detected locally, then commands are sent anonymously to Google's Gemini API for natural-language understanding.
