Nearly 100 Children Wrongly Detained as Adults Under UK-France Migration Deal
Of 304 age-disputed cases under the UK-France 'one in, one out' scheme (August 2025–May 2026), 94 were confirmed minors — a 31% wrongful adult classification rate. Detaining unaccompanied child asylum seekers in adult facilities is unlawful in the UK. The findings, from independent monitors' chair Jane Leech, also document detainees held over six months and removals of people with tuberculosis.
