Ford Names Its Next EV Truck "Fathom," First Vehicle on Universal EV Platform, Production Prototypes in Q1 2027

Ford has named its next-generation electric pickup the Fathom, the first vehicle on its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform. Workers are hand-building prototypes at the Louisville Assembly Plant and in Dearborn. Production-qualified prototype builds begin in Q1 2027, with pre-orders opening in early 2027. Louisville is being retooled for EV-only production under a $2 billion investment.
