iFixit provisionally scored Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 4 out of 10 for repairability. During open-and-close cycling, the hinge produced crunching and grinding noises and stopped opening normally. The IP48 rating leaves the hinge exposed to dust and sand below 1 millimeter. Samsung has historically combined the hinge and inner display into one assembly, making replacement a near-full disassembly.
